A Few Tips on How To Wear a Wig.
Some people get confused about how to put a wig on.
Start by putting the front on your forehead but do not let go, at the same time pulling the back down.
The label should always be at the nape of your neck and the flexible pieces on each side of your wig should be in front of your ears so they are level then your fringe or parting will always be in the right place. a measurement of 3 fingers from your eyebrows to your hairline is a good guide.
Some people like to wear a net with a wig ,if you have some remaining hair it will help it to lay flat ,you may also need an anti slip wig band ,which i also keep in stock.
Some clients wear nets due to an irritation, but I find that most people prefer to wear a wig without a net because it is more comfortable. The wig will always move with hair, but if its worn the right way it will not come off.

After care instructions for acrylic wigs
1 Brush the wig thoroughly the way the hair is laying.
2 Fill a bowl with tepid water and add a teaspoon of shampoo.
3 Very gently agitate back and forth in the water a few times.
4 Rinse really well in tepid/cold water.
5 Use conditioner and lightly comb through the hair then leave for a few minutes to intensify
6 Rinse again in water until all conditioner is out.
7 Remove excess water gently , then blot in a towel until most of the water is out then brush into your desired style and leave to dry overnight on a wig stand.
Always follow these instructions for acrylic wigs as real hair wig instructions will be different.
Always ask for advice if you are unsure about anything.
Hot water will take out any curl you have in your wig.
Recommended washing times are every 10 days if you wear it every day, otherwise once a month should be fine.
What not to do with your wig
Never use heat of any kind on your wig, hot water, heated tongs, hairdryer, straighteners or go near hot ovens.
Also do not leave outside to dry as birds love wigs for nesting
Never cut acrylic wigs with scissors it will ruin it , always get your wig cut by a specialist.
Useful colouring and other information for post hair loss patients.
In my experience all patients that have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or other kinds of treatments may not get it back for anything up to 16 months to 2 years, and then its usually only an inch or two long. It all depends on how fast your hair grows.
When your hair does begin to grow back it will barely grow an 1/8 of an inch within the first 3 months because your body has been through so much. The normal hair growth is much much slower than before and it may take up to six months to see anything.
One thing i can say for sure is that you will be very pleased to see any growth no matter how short it is. In some cases there may not be any hair regrowing, you may have been told this at the time of your medical consultation. In other cases such as radiothertapy I see some patients lose it in patches ,but everyone is different depending on the treatment.
The recommended guidelines from the medical teams for colouring hair after chemotherapy is approximately 7 months. The reason for this is that your hair will not be strong enough to take it.
If your hair has been cut a lot you may put on a organic colour, but always take the advice of a professional who is used to dealing with this.

Most treatments are in your body for up to eight months afterwards
this is why you must be careful and it may affect the skin as well .
Organic colouring is always the best way to go. There are fantastic colours out there in most hairdressers and health shops.
If you have scalp problems you could always use a colour mousse or a product called mane which is a water based product that colours and thickens patches.
